Wedding Concierge in New Orleans for The Special Event

Your Las Vegas Wedding Concierge is headed to "The Big Easy", New Orleans, LA, for an exciting week to attend The Special Event Show 2010. I will be out of the office from January 11-17th.

The Special Event Show is THE world's premier conference and tradeshow for event professionals (including weddings of course) and includes the very best in educational, inspiration and networking to get the latest and greatest in the newest and exciting trends across the industry.

It's a great chance to learn and be inspired from "the best of the best" around the country and around the world!

Your Las Vegas Wedding Concierge will once again be attending "The Wedding Luncheon", this year featuring guest speaker Darcy Miller of Martha Stewart Weddings! There will also be incredible inspiration to "oooh & ahhh" over provided by some amazing designers including the lovely Sasha Souza in the "Wedding Gallery".

And what place could be better to throw a conference about throwing a party than a party city like New Orleans?!!! It is nice to see that this great city is getting back on it's feet after such a tough 5 years.

I am so excited as this will be my first time ever in "The Crescent City". I love the music, I love the cuisine and I am sure I am going to love it's spirit too! I was just reading the Experience New Orleans Website and it looks like I am going to have to brush up on all the local Cajun/Creole lingo though! Should be FUN, FUN!

So as they say in "The Big Easy"...."Laissez le Bon temp rouler (Lazay Lay Bon Tom Roulay)"

LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL!!

Destination Weddings Bust Recession Myth-Las Vegas Still Attracting Stylish Brides & Grooms!

Las Vegas Strip at Night | Image by LorenzFoto
Picture of Cover of Current Issue of
Destination Weddings & Honeymoon Magazine on sale now.

Although the way that they are being planned is evolving, Destination Weddings are alive & well despite the sagging economy according to a new article and survey from D
estination Weddings & Honeymoons Magazine.

According to survey results, Las Vegas is still considered one of the most attractive wedding destinations only behind Florida for US destinations and edging out Hawaii who has been knocked off the #1 spot.

USA and Caribbean and other destinations "closer to home" are more attractive right now to couples compared to overseas like Europe, Tahiti, Fiji, etc.

Your Las Vegas Wedding Concierge is, of course, very happy to hear that Destination Weddings are still thriving & certainly wants to invite all couples to consider Las Vegas as an ideal destination for your celebration.

We have fabulous weather 350 days of the year, gorgeous resorts & venues, fabulous shopping, we are a dining, nightlife and entertainment mecca and with the wealth of talented event professionals and resources, can fulfill your wedding vision and dreams come true & beyond.

The guest lists are a bit smaller but the budgets are a little bigger, suggesting that couples are treating themselves and carefully considering their guest list so they can have a high quality destination wedding celebration experience across the board and with those who mean the most to them and want to travel with and be with.

Las Vegas has so many interesting venues; beautiful restaurants with private venues, club spaces not used during the day, country clubs, hotel suites and other unique spaces on and off the strip that are perfect for these smaller, intimate affairs.

Your Las Vegas Wedding Concierge LOVES planning small, intimate weddings such as these and can help you create your Destination Las Vegas Wedding with style...Your Style. I am accepting late 2009 and 2010 bookings now.

Your Las Vegas Wedding Concierge had the pleasure of planning this gorgeous wedding celebration that took place at one of my favorite venues, The Four Seasons, Las Vegas Resort, on April 17, 2009 in 28 days! Yes, JUST 4 WEEKS!

That was the first time, believe it or not, I had the opportunity to squeeze about 6-12 months of planning into less than a month and I must say for the record that it was a very busy 30 days and one of the most unexpected pleasurable planning experiences I have had to date.

From the time I met the Bride & Groom (due to a privacy contract I signed with the couple, I am not at liberty to reveal their names or any images of them or guests), I quickly discovered this was going to be a fantastic and very memorable party for them and their guests.

With the assistance of Asst. Catering Director Dennis Silknitter of the Four Seasons that served a sumptuous 6 course wedding meal, I began assembling a team of some of Las Vegas' top (and my favorite) wedding professionals to create this gorgeous, warm ambience set in tones of bronze, golds, reds and oranges to compliment the bride's gown & love of beautiful, bright and warm colors.

The wedding party walked down a petal lined, high gloss red aisle to a collection of red & orange florals on pedestals. Guests dined under a fabric canopy accented with crystals and flowers, lounged on European style gold sofas & ottomans, at antique gold mirrored tables and a monogrammed bar.

The beautiful decor was created by Andrea Sage, Marian Menezes and Nina Sauter of Destinations by Design.

The bride wanted to treat their guests to an after-dinner show and boy, DID WE PUT ON A SHOW. Thanks to Bruce Sampson of Steve Beyer Productions, we assembled a parade of entertainment to dazzle guests including belly dancers, a magician, "Cirque" performers, ballroom dancers and a magician, all orchestrated by a DJ & and "All Night Mike", a great MC who kept everyone happy, laughing and dancing on the red dance floor all night long (when they weren't enjoying the hot wedding trend Cold Stone Ice Cream and Hot Doughnut Stations)!!

The bride looked gorgeous thanks to my ace makeup artist Barbara Jo Batterman (THE BEST) and all the incredible images here were taken by the uber-talented Ray Iavasile of Ray Anthony Photography. I picked Ray to work with this couple as I knew this wedding was a great match for his style and I'm sure you will agree, I was right on!

The rest of the week long celebration included golf at Shadow Creek Golf Course, a Maverick Helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon, a family dinner at Charlie Palmer Steak and welcome in-suite receptions & brunches.

The event was a fabulous success which proved to me that when the stars align and you get  amazing clients and wedding professionals to work with, planning a fabulous Las Vegas Wedding with great Style like this one in 28 days is a pleasure! THANK YOU!

Chameleon Chair Love-10 Fabulous Looks!

Orginally uploaded by Tracey Kumer-Moore

Speaking of Top 10's...

Here are 10 fabulous looks that had
Your Las Vegas Wedding Concierge just drooling at the recent Catersource & Event Solutions Conference and Tradeshow, 2009 in Las Vegas.

The latest in haute chair rental couture for your wedding. They don't call these chairs
Chameleon Chairs for nothing you know.

I just love the belted rosettes and skirts, feathers and leathers (3rd down on the right was a purse!!) that are reflective of current fashion and home trends.

Of course, the one just makes my heart flutter is that Monet inspired "LillyBelle" (4th row, L) sleeve from Wildflower Linen. It is just too beautiful.

I know what your thinking and some are certainly priced at points that may be above your budget for a room full. However, you could use a more basic
Chameleon Chair for your reception guest tables and treat yourselves to the over the top indulgence at your sweetheart. They come in bar height too, so adding just a few well placed "lookers" at the bar will make for a very swank spot all night!

This way, you can have achieve the wedding style and look you want, including a little extra eye candy that will make a statement worth the investment.

TSE in 5-4-3-2-1 Minutes

A fabulous wrap-up video of the The Special Event Show from the sessions, to the showcasing events and the trade show floor to the behind-the scenes; the fabulous Michael Cerbelli of Total Entertainment, featured this very cool video by in his  "Hottest Event & Entertainment Ideas (tm)".

The video (loving and downloading all the amazing music from it too) was produced by the fabulous Celebrity Videographer, Brett Culp. He has been featured on "Get Married" TV and his work is just gorgeous & I am head over heels with his work. Brett, call me:)! Seriously though, it would be a dream come true to work with this man.

I love the format of this video as it counted down from the beginning to the end of the event and encapsulated the energy of what TSE attendees experience.

Your Las Vegas Wedding Concierge would like to thank the ever awesome Sasha Souza for graciously providing the link to the video and you should all check out her Sparkliatti blog; one of my "must-read", favorite daily blog reads. Ok, I admit it Sasha, I blog-stalk you;).

Fab Finds from The Special Event Show

Tabletop Montage Shown Above: UL & LR by Resource One Linens & UR & LL by LaTavola Linen. Images taken by Lara McCullough from Ready 2 Spark Blog.

Fete Accompli Events: Picture by Tracey Kumer-Moore

Just wanted to begin to share some of my favorite discoveries from The Special Event I attended in January in San Diego.

The Trade Show Floor is one of my favorite parts of the conference to view up close all the new trends and amazing ideas in the event world.

Of course, I am always attracted to the beautiful table tops, floral and linen displays and especially the amazing furniture that is available to rent for events.

Love the table tops montage provided above by a favorite "inspiring" blogger,Lara McCullough, "Ready 2 Spark" that I read religiously and who takes a much better shot than I did of these mutual favorites.

Love the yellow and white for it's freshness and prettiness and the black and yellow for it's fabulous drama! And who is to say that you can't do drama at your wedding?

The black & white and green table is so striking as anything with black and white is with the green, and the look carried through in the chair pads and the tailored overlay.

Finally, the picture below of the table, and the chairs and those acrylic candelabras that I WANT!  Actually, I wanted to take home the entire booth of furniture from Fete Accompli Events.  Their line of furniture rentals ranges from very ornate & palatial to modern and sleek.

If you really want to make a STATEMENT at your wedding, this is the furniture that definitely would do it for you and in smaller focused areas, it would certainly take the style quotient up major notches.

And don't think that these pieces are completely out of reach for you. Again, because they are so striking and bold, a few pieces or at most, a lounge area is a reasonable investment and not necessarily too over the top.

Of course, if you want to go over the top with custom rentals this is some of the best product to go there and Vegas certainly is a place to bring it to that level. Your creative event team of rental specialists, wedding consultant and designer would certainly assist you in finding just the right combination of decor elements; furniture, linen, lighting, etc. to bring your style to an sophisticated overall look that will have them saying "Wow"!

Do check out the websites of the amazing linen providers and the furniture to give you product descriptions and to see stylish events where they added to the overall look of the event.

Wedding Professionals at WIPA Show of 2009 Wedding Trends

Photography by Henshall Photography, Los Angeles

On January 7th, I had the opportunity to visit Los Angeles for the inaugural 2009 meeting for WIPA (Wedding Industry Professionals Association) of which I am a "Founding Member".

Kicking the year off and the day, was a discussion of top wedding trends featuring America's "sassiest" lifestyle guru, Steve Kemble!

The event was held at RRivreWorks which, for a wedding planner/designer or bride is BETTER THAN DISNEYLAND! RRivreworks is owned by the amazing RRivre Davies, an event designer who's work you have seen in major bridal magazines from The Bride & Bloom to Your Wedding Day Magazine and more.

The decor and furniture rentals like his incredible chandeliers, in what is really a large warehouse, created a pallet for room after gorgeous room of wedding decor and table top vignettes courtesy of other top wedding design trend setting companies like Chameleon Chairs & Wildflower Linens.

And the food was as much a prime time player with delectable offerings from one of the top Catering & Event companies in the country, Good Gracious Events was completely merchandised and styled as part of the entire decor it was situated in.  The candy bar, hosted by Epicurean Umbrella up on a fabulous white bar with white shelving hutch behind it, was chock full of the best new & classic sugar fixes everyone just gobbled up.

Which is a great tip Your Las Vegas Wedding Concierge can pass on to you. Your food is such an important part of the reception being 45-50% of your entire budget. With so so much variety to choose from in the way of your food and beverage these days, styling your food displays; especially with stationary food displays and interactive stations and bars for cocktail hour or receptions, ensure to work with your caterer, floral designer, event designer and rental specialist so that your wedding style is represented in this area as well.

Interesting presentation and service of food compared to those utilitarian buffet warmers will make a definite impact for your guests and your photos and video!
Enjoy the photo gallery of all the fabulous food, decor, florals and lighting.

As the first not for profit wedding association in the country, "WIPA members set the standard for our industry, working creatively and ethically to produce weddings with panache-*from WIPA Website.

2009 Wedding Trends Show Couples Reevaluating the Value of Weddings

My friend Amber Gustafson from Amber Events in Los Angeles, CA posted an entry on her blog on 2009 wedding trends a few weeks ago which I just found and wanted to share with you. I have included Amber's own commentary as well because I am one of those in the wedding industry she refers to who completely agree with her.
Here is Amber's post...

"This post taken from the ever awesome Wedding Report is not about colors and the cutest new favors, but more about the overall state of the wedding industry as it relates to what is going on in the economy. People are still getting married, they are just looking at it a bit differently than they were a year ago.
2009 Market Forecast

In 2009, the number of couples getting married will remain steady overall at about 2.2 million. If the economy begins to recover, we may see a slight increase; however, if we see more economic turmoil the number of weddings will decline in 2009 as couples wait for the economy to recover. Spending will follow the same trend, except that overall spending will be down 10% over 2008, which is already seeing a decline of 20-30%. In 2009, we estimate the average wedding cost to be between $21,000 and $25,000.

2009 Trends
Most trends in 2009 will relate to saving money with the exception of a few. We expect other money saving trends to emerge.
• Smaller weddings with fewer guests
• Destination weddings or destination type weddings closer to home
• Accent colors on dresses and cakes with the most popular being greens and blues (& "Mimosa" yellow as well).
• Increased reliance on family and friends to help plan, pay, and provide some of the services
• Increased use of green and echo friendly products and services
• Simplified decorations, centerpieces and wedding invitations
• Increased use of online RSVP’s vs. traditional mail-in RSVPs
• Off-peak weddings; Mornings, Afternoons, Fridays, Sundays, October becomes the new June
• Buffet meals, Hors d’oeuvre, and cocktail receptions
• Cheesecakes, cupcakes and miniature cakes
• All-inclusive packages

There has been a lot of talk in the wedding industry about whether or not we should cut our prices in order to survive in this market. For myself personally, the answer is no. I believe in the quality of the service I provide and I believe in the reasons of why I charge what I charge. My mechanic, lawyer, accountant, and IT guy aren't lowering their prices, because they too believe in the quality and the necessity of the work they do. Granted, you can get married without a wedding coordinator, but if you do want one, always remember that you get what you pay for!"

*Your Las Vegas Wedding Concierge has not discounted my pricing however my 2008 fees for all my services will continue through 2009 for at least the first 4-6 months. I am confident my fees are competitive and fair. They reflect the professionalism, high quality and level of service, dedication & passion I give to each and every wedding couple I work with.

I firmly believe that whether I (or someone in your city or destination locale) assist you for a few hours or over the course of several months, having an advocate to guide you to make the best decisions in planning a beautiful, successful, memorable and affordable wedding within your budget is value worth considering.
