Wedding Concierge Introduces Elizabeth & Andy by AltF

Images by: John Michael Cooper, AltF Photography

Your Las Vegas Wedding Concierge has the coolest clients!!

Elizabeth & Andy are a fabulous and very stylish Las Vegas couple who I am honored to be working with in planning their May 2009 wedding at the gorgeous Four Seasons Resort, Las Vegas in their luscious Fountain Terrace venue.

Elizabeth & Andy have selected the uber-talented and dare I say "infamous" and one & only John Michael Cooper of AltF photography.

I met John way back when I was just starting out in my business 5 or 6 years ago already (time does fly!) after I had seen his website and was blown away by his work. I have been wanting to work with him ever since and I'm looking forward to it very much.

Elizabeth and Andy have great taste (they found each other of course), they found John and, oh heck...they found me!

Check out the Blog of John Michael Cooper here for more pictures of Elizabeth & Andy and all of John's amazing work.

A Picture Perfect Valentine's Day Contest

My friend, the uber talented photographer Ashley Bartoletti is having a very sweet Valentines' Day contest at her blog where she is giving away a free engagement session!!
All you have to do is go to Ashley's blog and send her an email address (listed in the post about the contest) as to why you should win and send her a photo of the two of you. Wow! How easy is that and what a wonderful and romantic present to win too!!
Now, the semi-bad news for anyone not in Southern Nevada or Southern California, this contest is only for people living in these parts of the world. But who knows, maybe Ashley will have another one day and open the contest to all fans of her beautiful and creative photography work across the USA. I would be the first to petition that contest on your behalf my dear readers.
I love Ashley's work and I love the way Ashley works at a wedding. She is a young talent but a total pro and her work is just gorgeous!! I had the pleasure of working with Ashley last year for the first time at the beautiful Wynn, Las Vegas Wedding of Kaylynn and Bill (that is one of their engagement shots above). I love this shot.
I am also pleased to say that Ashley is one of my fellow Grace Ormonde Platinum List colleagues for 2008. I'm so proud of her:)!

So, go take a look at Ashley's blog and website, enjoy the beautiful images and please, don't forget to enter her contest; especially if you are looking for a wonderful talent to capture every beautiful moment of your engagement and your wedding!

Wedding Concierge is Crazy for Cupcakes!

Two cakey posts in a row? Yep, but for different reasons. Doesn't matter though. One can never have enough resasons or excuses to treat themselves as far as I'm concerned!!

I recently sent out these fabulous & yummy cupcakes to some local wedding professional friends of mine as a little "thank you" & to wish them a very sweet, successful & stylish 2008!
Pamela Jenkins and her marvelous team (including her mother & her grandmother!) at The Cupcakery in Henderson, NV did an amazing job with "blinging" out these little delights with the Your Las Vegas Wedding Concierge signature blue flower from my logo & lots of sparkle that definately had my personality all over them. They were a huge hit & they put a smile on everyones' faces & lips too!

I am definately going to be ordering these logo cupcakes again as a Signature Gift from the Wedding Concierge for brides & wedding friends alike. I know this will be a very popular marketing campaign!

Of course, I knew they would be a hit as The Cupcakery, the trendiest cupcake shop in Vegas, was one of my featured vendors, providing the delightful take-out cupcake favors for the great Vendor Appreciation party I produced for The Knot in 2006.

I just love cupcakes for weddings, showers, luncheons, or any occassion worth having a party for (or just because it's Wednesday)! They are still very popular with couples. But now, the displays are taken to whole new creative levels arranged on elaborate stacked architectural platforms, as edible artworks or displayed elegantly on fine furniture pieces surrounded by luscious flowers on heirloom silver platters as my planner colleague & friend The Wedding Jeannie in Los Angeles did for an elegant summer 2007 wedding.

Cupcakes are so much more fun to eat & fun to expand a wedding theme by using a variety of different designs based on a central motif like this modern & elegant cupcake/cake display below created by Vanilla Bake Shop in Santa Monica, CA (I LOVE THIS!!). Guests love cupcakes & tend to favor them over a slice of wedding cake for their child-like novelty, portablity to eat & they can enjoy a variety of flavors & frostings. You could serve them along with little milkshakes!

This is a good thing to think about when ordering your wedding cake! Instead of spending your cake budget on a huge cake where only 65% may actually be eaten, you could reduce the size of the cake you actually cut (maybe a 6" or 8" miniature cake) with a cupcake bar! How stylish is that?! And, the money you spent actually went to something that everyone will love. That makes it even better!

And like I did for "The Knot" party, you can also customize your cupcakes with your names & date or initials or logo & box them up "in style" as "to go" treats. Have your wedding planner display them on a "Cupcakes & Coffee Cart" or table designed in your wedding style motif and colors as a sweet & warm memory for your guests.

And if you are a fellow cupcake lover in Toronto Canada where the Wedding Concierge hails from (well, it's Hamilton actually), then I must give a shout-out to my fabulous cousin & best friend Barbara Rotberg, owner of LolliCakes, my favorite cupcake store in...Canada of course:)! Her cupcakes are sooo cute & delicious. They are called "Lollicakes" because they have a chocolate lollipop inserted into the cupcakes. Of course "Lollicakes" are a big hit for parties, weddings, birthdays, holidays, etc. They are also made in a "tree nut & peanut free" & Kosher facility! If you ever find yourself on Mt. Pleasant Road in Toronto, go visit Barbara & tell her that I sent you!

Thanks Pamela & thanks Barbara for keeping my life sweet on both coasts!

Meet Me at the Wag-a-Tail Walkathon on April 15!

I hope you are all enjoying your weekend?

You know, Las Vegas is more than what you see on the Las Vegas strip. We have a wonderful community of citizens who support this fabulous city and all the great organizations that make it a pretty darn great place to live.

I will be participating again in one of my favorite annual events this Sunday April 15, 2007 at the Las Vegas Valley Humane Society's 11th Wag-A-Tail Walkathon.

The walkathon helps in raising money for the Las Vegas Valley Humane Society whose mission it is to" improving the plight of homeless, abandoned and abused animals in Clark County. We are one of the few organizations that rescue animals which we then foster until we can find loving new homes"-From LVVHS website.

This day is always so much fun. It's like a big doggie nightclub watching all these canines checking one another out, and fun to see everyone having a great time and getting some good exercise for this great cause for paws (cheeky dog reference #1 and counting).

You will find me there helping out my good friend Jodi Harris from Sight N' Sound Events. Jodi and her husband Pat Harris have been long time major supporters of the LVVHS and the walkathon including providing "dog gone" great entertainment (had to get that in there somehow) and MC'ing the post walkathon activities.

Last year I got to realize a dream of mine by "playing DJ" and managing the DJ booth and spinning some tunes and it was SO MUCH FUN! I get to do some of that again this year and I'm so excited. We have a new location down on the grass in the middle of all the action where the fur will be flying (I'm not done yet..get ready for it). We will be headquartered in the ..."PUP TENT" (ha ha) playing music and hosting great contests like "biggest dog", "smallest dog", "stupid pet tricks", etc.

The Wag-A-Tail Walkathon will be held at Hills Park in Summerlin. Registration begins at 7:30 am and the official walk starts at 9:00 am. There will be all kinds of refreshments for humans and dog alike, special raffles from generous sponsors like Pulte Homes and lots of great information and products for your 4 legged family members.

Hope to see you and your favorite furry friends tomorrow at the park. It's a great way to spend Sunday with the family and show your love for your pets' canine brothers and sisters in need.

For more information, please visit The 2007 Wag-A-Tail Walkathon page on the Las Vegas Valley Humane Society website.

Do You Want the Best Wedding Reception Ever?

Maybe it's because I am such a music lover, but in my opinion, the topic of wedding reception entertainment is probably one of my favorite things to discuss with a client and just how important a part it is in turning your wedding reception into a memorable party for you and your guests.

Long after the wedding day is over, what is always remembered by guests is how much fun they had (or unfortunately didn't), how great the music was (or wasn't) and how much fun the DJ or band was (or wasn't).

The entertainment choices should reflect your personal tastes and personality, style of wedding and budget but one thing is for certain is that whomever you hire, they should enhance your party with their professionalism, talent and skills as entertainers whether you hire live musicians or a DJ (or both).

My good friend Jodi Harris, "CEO of Fun" at Sight N' Sound Events is one of the most sought after "Wedding & Event Entertainers" in Las Vegas as a DJ and Mistress of Ceremonies at the top of "preferred vendor" lists of the best resorts in town and Your Las Vegas Wedding Concierge's as well.

Jodi is passionate about providing the very best professional DJ services and feels that there is so much more to what she does than simply spinning tunes. She is dedicated to promoting professionalism among her peers in the DJ business and to all of us in the wedding industry both on a local and national stage.

She also wants you, Miss and Mr. Bride and Groom, and your families to know that there is someone out there that wants you to know that you too, with some helpful pointers, can ensure you have your "Best Wedding Reception" ever.

Jodi will be speaking on this very topic at the All About You Bridal Galleria in Henderson on Tuesday April 10 at 6:00 pm.

Just so you know, this is not a sales pitch for Jodi's company, but just a presentation and discussion of useful information that will be helpful to you in selecting your wedding entertainment and planning your reception.

If you are at the point of selecting your wedding reception entertainment and want honest advice to help you make the best chocies, or you are a local Las Vegas wedding professional who wants to learn more (I sure do) about working effectively with your DJ so that you can help make your clients' have a memorable event for all the right reasons, then you should be listening to Jodi at 6pm on April 10.
Please RSVP for this event to 702.365.9526. If you are one of the first 25 to RSVP, you will receive a special gift from Jodi. You can read more about this presentation on the Sight N' Sound Events Blog.
Have a Stylish Weekend and Happy Holiday!

Meet Anne Kellog from Las Vegas Paper Doll

I had the pleasure today of meeting Anne Kellog, owner of Las Vegas Paper Doll, the stylish stationery boutique located in the Holsum Lofts complex at 231 West Charleston Boulevard.

I was a stationery fanatic when I was a kid and entering Anne's boutique brought back that same sense of giddiness at all the beautiful papers, elegant and fun cards, writing accessories and invitations. Anne's beautiful and very sweet golden lab Luna, invited me inside in her own way with the wag of her tail and a kiss on the hand.
The store itself, as you can see, definitely has a modern, streamlined look. Anne carries a wide array of high style and unique, hand made greeting cards, personal note cards and stationery. From hip, vintage Vegas cards to hilarious and sassy cards with great graphics, Anne's love of the art of paper and letter writing is all around you.
"Anyone can write an email or text message and hit send, it's so easy and so accepted now, but to take the time to sit down at your desk, pull out a beautiful and personalized note card or sheet of paper and hand write a letter really tells the recipient how special and personal the sentiment is."

I couldn't agree more. Just a few days ago I received a "lovely note". I call them that because my aunts always would call my mom and tell her they received the "lovely note" Tracey sent. She is a fond acquaintance and sent me the note thanking me for attending an event she produced. I sincerely appreciate the time she took to say that she valued me being there.

Unfortunately, the art of letter writing is not as popular in these hurried times and Anne says she opened her store to do her part to keep this custom alive and make it fun for people to express themselves and want to write.

We also talked about weddings. Ann thinks there are angel wings waiting for us wedding planners in heaven! I like Anne! She carries a small but quality line of custom wedding invitations and wedding stationery from companies like Crane, "Something Different" from Carlson Craft that are modern & colorful as well as some smaller invitation houses with modern taste but surprisingly traditional touches.

Her customers come to her looking for something that speaks to their individuality beyond the thousands of invitations you find in the big invitation books. She is much attuned to what the bride wants after a brief interview and Anne says many do go for the modern and colorful designs, with highly stylized touches. But, every once in a while, she gets surprised."I had a bride come in to the store who was someone I knew pretty well. She was in her early 20's and really a funky, trendy girl. Because I felt I knew her, I showed her some of the more modern and trendy designs and they weren't making an impression. She then saw the book from Crane which is about as traditional and formal as you can get in an invitation; crisp white card stock, formal script lettering, no adornments. Her eyes lit up. This is what SHE wanted. Who knew?"

Ann's impression of where wedding invitation trends are heading is that brides are going to return to this level of classicism, formality and tradition from their mother's or grandmother's time. "The invitations will reflect a respect for a more romantic time gone by and for the institution of marriage but will still have modern elements like unique script fonts or special touches like a monogram that will reflect the couple's individuality".

And, because I was thinking you all would like to know (and so did I), I asked Anne for her best piece of invitation advice. "Take the time to select an invitation that will best convey the message about the kind of wedding you are having. For example if the wedding is a black tie affair, the invitation should set the tone with the correct formality of wording, font style and design."

Finally, "Think about your invitation as a remembrance of your wedding that could be an heirloom or worthy of framing for display. Be cognizant of what you put on the invitation so that it will be a pleasure to look at in years to come. Asking that no children allowed or, G-d forbid, requests for registry gifts, will blemish what would otherwise be a lovely memento."

Very wise advice indeed and thank you so much Anne. It was a pleasure spending time with you today and thank you for your passion to your art and your business. If you are looking for wedding invitations or stylish stationery and cards to begin your letter writing, stop in and say hello to Anne and Luna at Las Vegas Paper Doll!
