Featured Wedding-Andy & Elizabeth | Four Seasons 5.17.09

All Images by Altf.com Photography

Your Las Vegas Wedding Concierge had the great pleasure of planning & directing the absolutely beautiful (if I do say so myself) wedding of Andy & Elizabeth at the always elegant Four Seasons Resort, Las Vegas this past May 17th.

It has been one of my absolute favorite weddings this year for so many reasons beginning of course with a couple who I have come to know & love over the past 15 months.

The wedding locations took some twists and turns from when we first started out but, I'm a firm believer in "beshert" (Hebrew for "destined to be") & the celebration could not have been more perfect than in the gorgeous Fountain Terrace of the Four Seasons thanks to the fantastic Asst. Director of Catering, Dennis Silknitter

Andy & Elizabeth incorporated not only the beautiful green color but also as many "Green" elements they could into their wedding. From cutting down on paper & having an elegant seating chart/menu combination to bio-fueled luxury transportation for guests and environmentally, socially responsible wedding bands, the affair reflected this couples wish to celebrate in style & with respect for the environment.

It was a wonderful evening and truly a celebration of love, family & friends enjoying a beautiful environment, a fabulous Las Vegas night, delectable food & drink (Donut Bar & Eskimo Pies included) & live entertainment all night long. It wasn't just a wedding, it was a PARTY!!

Thank you to the unbelievable, talented team of Wedding Professionals who made this event such a success. It's a pleasure & honor to work alongside you. You make me look GREAT & you all ROCK!

Weddings like this & couples like Elizabeth & Andy are why I truly love my job!
  • Tifany of Gourmet Invitations for the amazing custom "linen inspired" invitations & reception pieces.
  • Randi of Naakiti Floral & Sit on This Chair for the gorgeous florals, decor, linens & chairs who is just a joy to work with & always goes above & beyond my expectations.
  • The uber-talented John Michael & Dalisa Cooper of Alt F Photography. It took 6 years to work with you FINALLY, & it was worth the wait:)-I'm going to make sure it won't take that long again.
  • Lori White who is one of my absolute favorite hair & makeup stylists to work with.
  • SWANK A/V for those super cool light balloons.
  • The Steve Beyer Band for keeping us rockin' all night long.
  • Vegas Photo Booths for all the photo fun. What WAS going on inside that cabana?;)!!
  • Pat Harris & the awesome Sight N' Sound Events Video Team
  • Nicole from Earth Limos for the Eco-Luxury Rehearsal Dinner Transportation
And Thank YOU Andy & Elizabeth for allowing me to be a part of your lives this past year & help you bring your vision of your wedding to life. It was truly an honor & pleasure! Mazal Tov you two & may you have a long life (120 years or so) full of good fortune, good health, lots of laughs and of course, much love all ways and for always! X0

Your Las Vegas Wedding Concierge LOVES Las Vegas because when we do ANYTHING, we do it BIG and we do with STYLE!!

The performers of some of the city's most loved shows, from "Phantom" to "Jersey Boys" & "Tony & Tina's Wedding" certainly were all decked out to celebrate in their Easter finest for a very worthy cause.

These are just two of the incredible parade of Easter bonnet creations and of course I just had to share the two most wedding related ones with my readers.

The second annual "Las Vegas Easter Bonnet Competition", a benefit for St. Therese Center, was held April 5 at Chippendales Theatre at The Rio Hotel & Casino.

St. Therese Center, provides outreach and services to more than 3,500 locals with HIV and AIDS.

According to the Review Journal article, the 2009 year's fundraiser has brought in more than $12,000 in donations.

Read the entire article & See the Slideshow of all the fabulous hats!

Your Las Vegas Wedding Concierge is very proud to be part of this wonderful city that not only has great style, but also has a very BIG HEART!!

All You Need is Love, Cupcake!

Oh does Your Las Vegas Wedding Concierge LOVE these!

Just in time for Valentine's day,
Retro Bakery in Las Vegas gets in the holiday spirit.

Available with 24 hours notice at Retro Bakery OR in the case from Feb. 11-14 (at no extra charge during those days)!

Now that is what I call "Sweet Lovin'"!

I need to take a trip up to Retro Bakery for one of these and also because I just love their "classic Vegas retro" style of their website and the store. Plus, they are fun to follow on Twitter!

If that wasn't great enough they have all these great "Memory Lane" cupcakes like "Cookies & Cream" cupcakes and breakfast varieties like a "Coffee & Doughnut" cupcakes that is a glazed vanilla cake doughnut with a dollop of coffee cream icing. Come on now, who could not get their frown turned upside down with one of those?

Yes, they make custom cupcakes for showers, weddings and more! I found all kinds of goodie images on their Flickr site (the link is on their site as well as to their Face book page, etc.)

Retro Bakery is located at 7785 N. Durango Dr. #130, Las Vegas, NV 89131 | Phone: 702-586-3740

A ROCKIN' Groom's Cake!

Image from Sasha Souza Events (Facebook Album)

Who says you can't rock out in STYLE at your wedding?

Your Las Vegas Wedding Concierge absolutely believes you can and I had to share this AWESOME AC/DC themed groom's cake that anchors a sinful sweet table I found in Sasha Souza's party portfolio on her Facebook profile. If I happen to wind up going down that "Highway to Hell", I hope I get to stop and enjoy this cake and this sweet table on the way down!

I wish I knew who created this cake. It is just fantastic! Then again, I LOVE AC/DC. I would really love to see the images from this wedding. I bet it was a great event both visually and fun for everyone with a couple who would think of a cake like this.

And in the words of that infamous band "For Those About to ROCK (and Wed) I Salute You!"

Have a Stylish Day!

When Good Cakes (& Bakers) Go Bad!!

I was directed to a blog by a friend/assistant of mine called "Cake Wrecks" which chronicals, rather hilariously I might add, the foibles, follys and weird, scary and downright awful results of what are supposed to be the creations of "professional" cake bakers.
Some of the cakes (they include all kinds, not just wedding cakes) are really unbelievable and the commentary is just fantastic and my eyes are watering from laughing so hard from some of these posts.
However, in the midst of all the funny, there is unfortunately very costly and unfortunate stories behind the laughter. That is, someone who entrusted a supposed "professional" with baking and creating a very important element of their wedding day, only to have that very special element and moment that they envisioned ruined by someone who could care less about their reliability or professionalism or think they had "talent".
Observe the wedding cake below. Doesn't look too bad, does it? Obviously selected by a tartan loving couple but a nice, well made cake all the same.
This cake was the inspiration for a bride named Linda from Texas who asked a "professional" baker to recreate this cake for her. The post & commentary from "Cake Wreck" blog is here
THIS IS WHAT THE BAKER (WHO WAS DRUNK BY THE WAY) DELIVERED!!

Are you kidding me?
According to the original story submitted by Linda's friend Summer, they let that cake sit out in all its pitifullness during the wedding and the poor couple spent their first year of marriage in court trying to get their money back.
Had I been this person's wedding planner, I would not have let that monstrosity out of the kitchen!
Had I been this couple's wedding planner, I would hopefully have been able to guide them early on enough to tell them to research a bit more into this so called "professional's" credentials and referral history (or lack of it) and stop a disaster in it's tracks.
A professional & reputable wedding planner will assist you in finding reliable, professional and truly talented pastry chefs that you can choose from that will be realistically able to tell you if they can provide what you you are envisioning for your wedding cake within your budget. If they can't they (the planner & baker) will help you find attractive yet lower cost alternatives or other reputable bakeries.
Even if you are not planning to or can't afford the full services of a wedding planner, some planners, like Your Las Vegas Wedding Concierge, do offer a la carte consultation services that include referral services to qualified professionals.
The fee for a consultation definitely would have worked out to have been much less than this bride wound up paying in court fees, time from work and dissapointment!!
Please, don't let this happen to you. Do your homework & hire the best you can afford. That is being smart and that my friends...is always in STYLE!
