Are You Really Enjoying Your Las Vegas Wedding?

Grooms @MGM Grand on their way to their double wedding!
Image taken by Tracey Kumer-Moore

Your Las Vegas Wedding Concierge met these these two "dapper" blokes (and a whole bunch of their mates) from England earlier this week while at the MGM Grand! They were on their way to meet their brides and celebrate their weddings in a double wedding at one of the chapels on the strip (didn't mention which one).

So yes, these two maybe be propagating the stereotypical good bad & ugly and wacky, tacky "Vegas Wedding", but I've got to tell ya, I could not have been more happy to see these two fellas having the time of their lives (at the best time of their lives) and really enjoying and embracing what Las Vegas Weddings are all about!

FUN...YES, they are about FUN!

Whether plain and simple, extravagant and elegant, sexy and sophisticated or just plain slap-happy, silly in love, Las Vegas weddings are about setting yourself free from the conventional and just embracing the romance of your love and celebrating it with your friends in Style. Here are three tips for you...

  • Plan a great wedding to start (regardless of what your budget is; there is something for everyone here) by finding solid & talented wedding professionals (Your Las Vegas Wedding Concierge can assist you with this from consults to full planning & production of course)!
  • Embrace your imagination and be bold; try something interesting on (maybe not the gold suit), but be open to ideas to take your vision and your party (no matter the size) to where it will be memorable-the fashion, entertainment, food, whatever!
  • Trust your instincts, trust your wedding professionals, enjoy yourselves & HAVE A BLAST!
I wonder how the brides were dressed?:)!!

Did you enjoy YOUR Las Vegas Wedding? I would love to hear from you. Leave a comment & let me know something special about how you celebrated your fabulous day?

Wedding Thriller Dance! Happy Halloween!

I think this is one of the classic videos that started the whole "Rock the Wedding Reception" custom dance craze. Everyone looked like they had a good time and the moves were fabulous. They were ON!

Michael Jackson's "Thriller" is one of the all-time greatest videos EVER in my opinion.

Your Las Vegas Wedding Concierge thinks it is a lot of fun and very memorable to do a custom dance with your wedding party, if they are all on board with it of course and are available to be there to learn the moves. If you are going to go through the trouble of doing one of these dances with your wedding party, it should look good (because it should be on video), right?

Make it fun and make it memorable.

Have a fun and Stylin' Halloween!

Happy Halloween With Love from Vegas & Rocky Horror!

Your Las Vegas Wedding Concierge could not resist posting this. A Rocky Horror Wedding Ceremony video...in Las Vegas...found just in time for Halloween.

I LOVE the Rocky Horror Picture Show (saw it 13 times + the stage musical back in the day) and this is Vegas fun and wedding kitch at it's absolute best. You have to admit, these people and their guests are just having a great time and that is what Las Vegas is all about. I always say, if  you can't have fun at your Destination Las Vegas wedding, then what are you coming here to get married for?

And the venue where all this wedding "madness takes its toll"?....

The famous Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel on the Las Vegas Strip. They do everything from traditional weddings to Elvis weddings to Goth, Vampire and Rocky Horror Weddings. These people LOVE what they do and I think it must be a total kick to get to dress up and perform weddings and make people happy to tie the knot  in their style.

So Happy Halloween everyone! Have fun, be safe and enjoy the show!

New Wedding Services Available for Hire?

My friend Samantha Goldberg of Gold Events Planning in New Jersey told me about this article she had posted on her blog on Sunday.

Sometimes you can't decide who you want to invite as your date to your friend's wedding. Maybe you don't want to offend a potential romantic interest by inviting his friend, or someone bailed on you in the last minute. If you are a female in her early twenties who meets the above description, then feel free to contact me. If you have facebook, you can find my picture at http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=32063947&id=24804464 .
As you can see, I am trendy, clean-cut, and enjoy social situations and parties. I can talk on a variety of topics and am a natural improviser and entertainer, as well as a dancer. If you're looking for someone with great energy and listening abilities, then I'm your man.
Location: Toms River it's NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests.

Got to give the fellow props for resourcefullness:). Hey, if Deborah Messing could hire adorable Dermot Mulroney in the movie The Wedding Date, the guy must figure why not him?
Thanks Samantha for sharing the story and making me laugh today!!
Have a Stylish Day!

"I'm a Pepper" and you can be my "Mrs. Pepper!

HEY BABY, LET'S GRAB A SODA, GO TO VEGAS ...
& GET MARRIED!

I love this crazy town!!
The Dr. Pepper People, Yahoo and the Hard Rock Hotel hosted a 24 hour "Valentines in Vegas" Wedding Chapel on February 14th to promote their new Diet Dr. Pepper Cherry Chocolate Soda as the perfect marriage of two delicious tastes.
Comedian Pauly Shore and Actor/"Dancing with the Stars" hottie Mario Lopez were two of the hosts for the event.
So naturally, what else would they do to spread that lovin' feelin but give all those brides and grooms to be a spin at the big wheel of love to see what kind of wedding they could have from a traditional "White Wedding" to "Indulgent" to "Rock N' Roll Fantasy Wedding".
People could go to the website to see their friends and family tie the knot and watch all the happenings on live streaming video and you can still see all the fun online with videos (including an interview with a Rabbi, a Priest and an Elvis...I hear a punch line coming!) and photos. The website is pretty cute actually with some very funny Wedding Planning FAQ's.
Yes, I know I always espouse the stylish weddings that Las Vegas can offer, but every once in a while, a story so deliciously funny and really, romantic at heart as this is just too wonderful not to revel in and enjoy remembering why we truly are "The Wedding Capital of the World".
Have a Stylish Day!

The Bride Takes, um correction..."IS the Cake"!

I must admit, when I saw this picture & the additional pictures in the article on CNN Online, my mind was just swirling with every pithy post title & comment I could think of to write here. I'm sure you are thinking them too!

This is Mrs. Chidi Ogbuta from Allen,TX standing with her groom, Inocent at their September 2007 wedding.

The bride said she had a lifelong dream (almost-she actually wanted to be a "doll"), fulfilled by having her likeness created in a wedding cake & her new husband was all too happy to help her have this dream of a very unique & personlized wedding day come true.

As I am sure you can imagine, the cake caused "quite the scene" at the wedding reception.Don't you just know this bride, her cake & her groom are going to wind up on one of those crazy wedding clip shows?!!!

Talk about "personalizing your wedding"!!

I admit, as I said at the top, I was really taken aback by these pictures, but I was intrigued so I dug a bit deeper into the story to find out the bride is of Nigerian heritage & had also seen something like it at a wedding celebration in Nigeria when she was young. It was a beautiful image for her that represented happiness and plenty that stayed with her her entire life.

I had an opportunity to assist a wedding planner friend of mine with a wedding last year where the bride was of Nigerian descent & many guests came from the homeland dressed in traditional colorful headdresses, dresses and robes. It was different, gorgeous & over the top in it's elaborateness & I loved every minute of it.

When I first start working with a couple, we talk at great length about their wishes and desires for their wedding day. I ask them about their culture & customs, priorities & what means the most to them to incorporate into their celebration. It's my job to listen, understand & embrace these things & do all I can to help them bring those wishes & desires (yes, even lifelike wedding cakes that serve up to 600 & take a full 7 days to consume) to life so they can celebrate their wedding in "their style with Style", honoring their past while stepping into their future.

I freely admit that I would have raised my eyebrows an inch or 4 had I been in that first meeting had I been hired as their wedding planner. But the beauty of being a wedding planner & one aspect of why I love my job is getting to learn about worldwide wedding traditions. The fact that Las Vegas plays host to the world & I have the opportunity to be a part of so many families' celebrations of love and in so many different cultures, faiths & unique customs is, well...here it goes, "the icing on the cake"! :)

So I wish Mr. & Mrs. Ogbuta a very sweet life & perhaps the 1st anniversary will be celebrated as they dig in to enjoy a delicious piece of "Mr. Ogbuta" & a glass of milk!

Have a Sweet & Stylish Day!

It's the Weekend-Time for a Movie!

Have some fun in the shade (yep, it's a sweltering 108F in Las Vegas this weekend), grab something yummy and frosty and check out this fun Brit import called "Confetti" at my Amazon "Concierge Book Cafe" .
Say "I do" to this hilarious "mockumentary" about a trio of wacky couples who vow to win the coveted title of "Most Original Wedding of the Year." The dueling duos include the tuneless Matt (Martin Freeman) and Sam (Jessica Stevenson) whose unfortunate wedding theme is Hollywood musicals; the hypercompetitive tennis partners Josef (Steven Mangan) and Isabelle (Meredith MacNeil), and the outrageously uninhibited nudists Michael (Robert Webb) and Joanna (Olivia Colman). At stake is a million-dollar dream home, but can love survive in the midst of unbridled prenupital chaos?"-Amazon Bookstore

I giggled all the way through and the funny thing is, there really is a "Confetti" Magazine and Website (I just had to link in pink) in England! It makes it even more hilarious and i get a kick out of their sense of irreverance.

Enjoy and Have a Stylish Weekend!

Plan on drinking on your wedding day?-Think again!

Wow, sometimes you think you have heard everything and then, sure enough, something happens to make you go "What the (insert your choice of word here)?".

The story below was featured as a headline on my MSN homepage today.

As your wedding planner, I have strict terms in my contract regarding the consumption of alcohol on your wedding day to protect all parties concerned. I will also reiterate the negative consequences of over drinking on your wedding day including being late & missing key parts of your wedding, potential property damage, and even looking like a complete dumb numskell in pictures so that they have to be re-taken (it's been done and it's costly!).

Of course, there is the legal issue that if either the bride or groom were so inebreated that they could not be of sound mind when they answer "I Do" during the ceremony, can the ceremony even proceed? I wouldn't think so, but my solution would be to postpone the wedding with all the extra expenses required on the shoulders of the couple involved.

Never, would I have expected the solution described in the story below.

Talk about embarassing!

Do you take this drunk guy’s brother? ...
With groom reportedly too inebriated, sibling steps in, takes bride

PATNA, India - Villagers at a wedding in eastern India decided the groom had arrived too drunk to get married, and so the bride married the groom's more sober brother instead, police said Monday.

"The groom was drunk and had reportedly misbehaved with guests when the bride's family and local villagers chased him away," Madho Singh, a senior police officer told Reuters after Sunday's marriage in a village in Bihar state's Arwal district.

The younger brother readily agreed to take the groom's place beside the teenage bride at her family's invitation, witnesses said.

"The groom apologized for his behavior, but has been crying that word will spread and he will never get a bride again," Singh said by phone.
